August has two birthstones, Peridot and Sardonyx. The peridot was regarded since ancient times as the symbol of the sun, and symbolizes kindness. People believe by wearing peridots, they will be protected from all that is evil.

A second August birthstone is Sardonyx. Roman soldiers wore sardonyx to guard from evil and bring good luck. During the Renaissance, sardonyx was believed to bring eloquence upon the wearer and was regarded with great value by public speakers and orators.  It promotes compatibility and love.
